I'm the founder of GlampWise — and the first to test everything that ends up in the shop.
I've been camping for as long as I can remember. In a tent, in a hammock, in a rooftop tent — I don't mind, as long as I'm outside. Cooking on a gas burner, a fire in the evening, the quiet of a place with no wifi: that's my idea of a holiday.
I also love long motorcycle trips, ideally on an adventure bike, wild camping along the way. That means my gear sometimes has to be as light and compact as possible — and sometimes, when the trip allows it, a bit more comfortable. Two extremes, and both need gear that simply works.
One thing's non-negotiable, no matter how bare-bones the trip: the day starts with a good cup of coffee. Which is exactly why a good camping espresso machine is our pride and joy.
Getting back to basics is wonderful: away from screens, noise, and the constant static of everyday life. But a little luxury finishes it off — a good cup of coffee, a chair you can actually sit in. And the moment your gear has to be compact and lightweight, you notice how expensive that comfort suddenly gets.
Often you're mostly paying for the brand, not for what the product actually does. So I started looking for alternatives. It doesn't always go smoothly: sometimes you buy something cheap and quickly find out why it was so cheap. But sometimes you find a gem — just as good, or even better, than the brand-name version, for a fraction of the price.
That's how GlampWise came about: I find the good, affordable alternatives so you don't have to — and don't end up stuck with something that gives out after one weekend.
My promise
I test everything myself
I use everything I sell myself — not just once, but over time. At the campsite, on the motorbike, or just in the backyard. Sometimes a product is already in the shop while I'm still testing it; the review follows as soon as I'm sure.
Honest reviews
You'll find my own experience on every product page. If a product disappoints, I just write that down — or it disappears from the shop.
Affordable, not cheap
I look for an alternative worthy of the big brands, not just the cheapest option that happens to look like one.
Can't get a product I've personally tested through a supplier anymore? Then I choose the closest alternative I trust just as much — never something I haven't tested myself.
